James Kallas Jewelers is known as the premier custom jewelry store in Santa Fe. People often think that having a piece of jewelry custom made is complicated and expensive. Well, it doesn't have to be! Today's blog entry will outline the simple steps necessary to create a unique piece of jewelry that reflects your personality and tastes.
The first step in creating your custom jewelry piece is to stop by our store (no appointment necessary). Bring any stones that you might want to use, or we can supply stones. While we don't recast old metal, feel free to bring any gold or platinum pieces that you don't wear; we'll be happy to give you credit for the metal based on weight and current gold/platinum prices. Next, we'll work with you, first by sketching, to design a piece that reflects your individual style and personality. Once a sketch is decided on we'll give you a cost estimate. Then, using CAD software and wax printers/growers, we'll make a wax model based on the sketches. Lastly, once you approve the wax model, we will cast the piece in the desired metal and set the stones.
The whole process is done in-house, takes two to four weeks, and is simple, straightforward, and fun! You'll end up with the jewelry of your dreams.
